Differences

Differences between American and British English. 

The most noticeable difference between the two accents for the vocabulary. And there are many everyday words that are different. Example the British call the hood of the car bonnet, while the American call it hood.  

The Americans go on vacation, but the British go on holidays. 

Americans live in apartments, while the British live in flats. 

A grammar difference between Amercian and British English relates to auxiliary verbs. Example the British say I shall go home now. But the Americans say I will go home now.   

American speech has influent British via culture, and therefore are there some prepositional differences  

Example: The American say: "what are you doing on Christmas?" While the British say: "What are you doing at Christmas?".

Worlds Fastest Estate Car

The new world's fastest estate car 

The three world's fastest estate cars are Audi RS6 Performance, Mercedes Benz E 63S and now BMW M5 Alpina.  

The Audi RS6 Performance has a top speed of 250 km/h. And 0-100 km/h is 3,7 seconds. The Performance edition has a 45 horsepower which adds up to about 597 brake horsepower. The regular RS6 has about has 552 horsepower.  

The new Mercedes E 63S can do 0-100 km/h in 3,5 seconds. And it has a top speed of 300 km/h. The new Mercedes has 603 brake horsepower. The special thing about the BMW and the Mercedes is that it can disconnect the four-wheel system and just have rear-wheel drive. 

And there is the brand new BMW Alpina B5 Touring. It can do 0-100 km/h in 3,7 seconds. It 0,2 seconds slower than the Mercedes but the top speed is 22 km/h more. That means it can do 322 km/h. 

Christmas Holiday

The Christmas Holiday 

d my holiday on a Thursday, the 21 of December. The next day we drove to our cabin in Oppdal. We brought our Christmas tree and our decorations. After we fired up in the oven and decorated the cabin and the tree. The clock was now about 1:30 in the morning, and we went to bed. The morning after, at Christmas Eve, the food was cooking and we went out for a walk. When we came back in the afternoon, the food was almost ready. We dressed and we ate the food. After we had eaten, we opened our presents. Then after a movie, we went to bed. The morning, after we had eaten breakfast, we headed out to go skiing. The next day we headed home after we had packed all our stuff.  

Annoying things

Things that is annoying me. 

One thing that are the most annoying is when people drive to close to the car in front. Why do they have to drive so close to me? It's so annoying. You don't save any time by driving 1 meter behind the car in front. And more important it is dangerous, if you are driving in 80 km/t and suddenly a deer jumps into the road, and the car in front have to brake hard it can end up in a collision.  

District 10

I live in district 10 and we are gold miners. The conditions are poor, we have to wash our clothes in the river. We live in the caves. And we have to work with pickaxe and shovel, the work is really hard, we start before the sun gets up and work until after the sun has gone down. And by the end of the day we have no money, we work free for the capital.  

My name is Patrick, and I am trying to get out of the country. Because the conditions are so bad, it is difficult because I have no money, and my family have no money. I am planning to leave the country, if I can get to get to the east coast, I can maybe get on one of the boats which leads to Europe. Our district is nearly on the coast, I have to sneak through the fence and the guards. I have made a wooden box to place on the harbor and a stamp on it, which I wrote “to Spain”. After I have entered the box, hopefully by the morning, they will pick it up and place it on a ship. I have no idea how many days the journey will last, but I have some food with me.  

After many days out on the sea, I heard the crane start up and I was about to get unloaded from the boat to a lorry. I heard and felt the lorry moving along the bumpy roads in Spain. There were no rules of immigration in Spain so when my box was dropped off at the address I wrote on the box. I simply unscrewed the four screws that was holding the lid together, and I stepped out. It was dark when I got up, I did not know what the time was but I was out.  

My new bike 

Some days ago I got my new bike. It's called Cannondale Lefty in carbon fiber. I like it because it's very light, many thinks it's looks weird because it has only one shock absorber. But it only has one fork? Isn't it weak compared to a bike with two forks? You might ask. But the truth is it can be stronger than a bike with two forks.  

I can post a few pictures when I get back home and I can mention a few specs that are on the bike. 

Home alone   

*Not a true story*

I was home alone because my father was always taking the night shifts. When I sat in the couch and watched TV, I heard a knocking at my door. “My dad would not get home until 1 in the morning.” I was thinking. There was coming another knock at the door. “What should I do?” I locked the door, ran up the stairs to my room, and locked the door. I heard the gate at my back yard was opening and closing, and then I heard a knocking at my backdoor. 

 5 minutes later, I heard the window downstairs was breaking. I heard the person was looking inside all the rooms downstairs, moments later I heard he was stumping up the stairs, and they stopped right outside my door. I saw the door handle was starting to twist, my heart was now raising. Then I was ramming his shoulder at the door, I saw the door starting to give up. 

 I was planning to jump out the window at my room. I opened the window and tried to jump in to the hedge, to cushion the fall. “I made it.” Was I thinking.    

I saw up at the window I saw the man was staring down at me. There are miles to my next neighbor. So I ran straight into the woods, I stopped after I had run a mile. Then I noticed I had my cellphone in my pocket, I called the police and said it was a bugler in my house. The police officer said the police will get there in 10 minutes then he asked me where I was, I said I was in the woods.  

Then I heard footsteps behind me. “I must end the phone call her.” I said to the police officer. I ran so long to reach the highway, if I was lucky can I see the police car, I saw the red and blue colors blinking in the trees. “Thanks god.” Was I thinking, I waved to the car and it stopped. The police officer rolled down his window and said. “Is it you which had a burglar in your house?” “Yes I said to the officer.” “Jump in the car.” He said. “Where was the last place did you see the man?” The officer asked me. “He was running after me, in the woods right here!” I said. “Where do you live, and where are your parents?” He said. “I live 2 miles that way, I said to the police officer. 2 months later and man is not found yet. My father is now only working day shifts.
